Emily T. Campbell
Coaching, New York
Emily returned to professional services consulting in 2012 after spending several years helming senior professional development roles at some of New York’s pre-eminent law firms. At Volta, Emily coaches lawyers on a range of subjects – from time management to professional presence – that meet their objectives and business goals. She also works with lawyers of all levels on navigating the job search process and managing career transitions. She is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®).
Emily started her legal career in 1995 at Cravath, where she was a deal lawyer for eight years. After determining that she wanted to work within the legal sector in a non-legal role, Emily joined the legal recruiting world in 2003 and worked with two national legal recruitment firms. She transitioned back into the law firm world in 2005 and served as Director of Professional Development at Kramer Levin and Senior Manager, Performance, Learning & Development at Allen & Overy. In these roles, Emily drew on her expertise in effective methodologies for developing attorneys at all stages of their careers and oversaw performance management and in-house programming. She has also been engaged as a private consultant by other global law firms to advise them on refining their practice development capabilities.
Emily received her BA with High Honors in Plan II (the University honors program) from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law and is an active NYU Law alumna, serving on reunion committees and as a President of the Law Alumni Association.
In her free time, Emily is active in Sunday School education at her church, officiates at swim meets and judges rock climbing competitions. A native Texan, Emily now lives in New Jersey with her husband, twins and schnoodle.
