Sang brings more than two decades of experience in law practice, legal recruitment, leadership coaching, organizational development and talent management to her work at Volta. Leveraging her wealth of industry knowledge, and broad-based insight into the legal market, she has established herself as a go-to advisor on every aspect of legal talent management for AmLaw 200 firms and other sophisticated legal-sector employers.  

Sang is frequently invited to speak at law firm partner retreats, bar committee programs and legal-sector panels, as well as at conferences run by major industry organizations such as the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), the Professional Development Institute (PDI), the New York City Recruiters’ Association (NYCRA) and the Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association (WALRAA). Sang’s presentations cover a range of topics pertaining to legal practice and talent management, including personal branding, employee growth and retention, on-campus and lateral recruitment, partner morale and industry culture. 

Sang began her career as a judicial clerk on the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Following her clerkship, she practiced as a corporate lawyer at two elite global firms before becoming a legal recruiter in 1998. She founded SJL Attorney Search (www.sjlsearch.com) in 2004, overseeing its emergence as one of New York’s premiere recruiting companies. Sang acquired the business of leading lawyer development company Shannon & Manch and relaunched it as SJL Shannon in 2013 before rebranding the company as Volta Talent Strategies in 2017.  

Sang received her BA from Brown University and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center. She is also certified by the Behavioral Coaching Institute as a master coach. From 2011 to 2015, Sang served on the Board of Directors for Girls Write Now.
